Ohio State 24 - Wyoming 10

OSU's offense, mainly the offensive line, struggled in a game that many thought would be a blowout. The Buckeyes came into this game as a 30 point favorite. Ohio State had an excellent 500 yards of total offense, but had a tough time getting into the end zone.

They had an even tougher time with Wyoming's pass push, as the Cowboys sacked OSU quarterbacks five times earning respect for themselves and the WAC conference.

The Buckeye defense had a good night with three interceptions and held Wyoming to no first downs on their last 14 third-down attempts at the end of the game.

Nine Buckeye penalties for 80 yards might have been the primary reason for the lackluster victory. They simply could not get into a flow.

OSU Football Pre-Game Rundown - Wyoming

Although the Cowboys have a competitive team every year, this year being no different, they did lose 13 starters from last year's team, including Co-offensive Players of the Year in the WAC Pacific Division, QB Josh Wallwork and WR Marcus Harris.

Wyoming also lost their Head Coach, Joe Tiller, who left to take the head job at Purdue. Former Kansas State assistant, Dana Dimel, takes over. At 34, he is the youngest coach in the division (I-A).

RB Marquez Brigham (4.3 speed, 539 yards and 8 TD's), the defense (with six returning starters including LB Jim Talich), and the best kicking game in the WAC (including All-American PK Cory Wedle - 20 of 27 field goals, including 3 game winners, and Second Team All - WAC Pacific Division Punter, Aron Langley - 45.7 yard average) keep the Cowboys more than competitive, and enough to give the Bucks a game for maybe a half. Then the size and athleticism of OSU will take over and wear them down.

This game is difficult to predict since both teams have lost so many players from their teams last season. They Buckeyes, with the better team, will march to victory in this one, 38 to 17.

Keep in mind, the Cowboys only lost 28 - 25 in overtime to BYU in the first WAC title game after leading in the fourth quarter.
