Ohio State (3-0) 28 -- Arizona (1-2) 20

This game looked to be a solid blowout when OSU was up 28-0 at the beginning of the 4th quarter. A shin injury to LB Andy Katzenmoyer, a mild knee sprain to QB Stanley Jackson and a host of reserves on defense for the Bucks contributed to the unexpected comeback as the Wildcats scored all of their 20 points in the last quarter.

A 20 yard interception return of a shovel pass for a touchdown by Andy Katzenmoyer was the highlight of the game for the Buckeyes.

Stanley Jackson threw for one touchdown, ran one in from 24 yards out, and Pepe Pearson added another score on a one yard run to open up a big lead. The Bucks were sloppy again, losing three fumbles and an interception.

Ohio State played good defense for three quarters. Arizona's "Desert Swarm" defense dominated against the run during the entire game.

The Wildcats moved the ball well in the 1st quarter as they had several opportunities that they couldn't capitalize on with good field position and a missed field goal early. Also not helping their cause was a bobbled snap by punter, Ryan Springston, who took off running when there was no OSU rush. He was subsequently knocked out of bounds at the Arizona 34 yard line, setting up Ohio State's first touchdown, a six yard Stanley Jackson pass to David Boston.

The Arizona Wildcats of the P.A.C. 10 went into this season ranked 15th by Sports Illustrated with high expectations of a possible Rose Bowl berth the school has never seen before.

Their dreams of a first Rose Bowl appearance took a big blow in losing to Oregon in their first game of the year, a conference game.

The Wildcats have 10 returning starters on a defense that has perennially been one of the toughest in the country in the 90's. Their strong defense, nicknamed the "Desert Swarm", is led by inside LB, Chester Burnett, who tied for the most tackles in the P.A.C., 10 last year with 124.

The offense is led by one of the most exciting QB's in the nation, Sophomore Keith Smith. Known for his speed and scrambling ability, Smith set an NCAA single-game record for total offense by a freshman with 502 yards in a 56-55 four overtime loss to California last year.

Ohio State, meanwhile, has won their first two games with sluggish performances in the first half against overmatched opponents in the "Horseshoe." The second half of both of those games has been a combination of offensive fireworks and defensive intensity.

O.S.U. is looking to play well the entire game against an Arizona team that is, no doubt, the best team on the Buckeye's Pre-Big Ten schedule.

Key players for both teams:
O.S.U. - QB Stanley Jackson, R. Michael Wiley, LB Andy Katzenmoyer, WR David Boston, and TB Pepe Pearson.

Wildcats - QB Keith Smith, LB Chester Burnett, DT Joe Salave'a, and LB Chris McAlister.

Prediction: O.S.U. 30 - 16
