WHEN: Sat., Oct.2,1999 at 3:30 p.m. WHERE: Ohio Stadium T.V.: ABC Make no mistake about it, TB Ron Dayne is the leader of this Wisconsin team. As he goes, so does the rest of the squad. At 5’10”, 252 pounds; he is a bulldozer of a running back who broke Archie Griffin’s Big Ten rushing record in the Cincinnati game when he ran for over 200 yards. In the Michigan game last Saturday, he ran for 88 yards in the first half, keeping UW in the game, trailing only 14-9. But in the second half, he was held to nothing on the ground and ended up with 88 for the day. Michigan always has a tough defense. The Badgers always have a good defense too with this season being no different. So far this unit is giving up only 14.5 points a game. UW’s starting QB Scott Kavanagh has struggled in the last two contests with Michigan and Cincinnati throwing for a combined 179 yards. He went out with an injury to his shoulder early in the 4th quarter against UM. Let’s wait and see if he returns for the OSU game on Saturday. Brooks Bollinger is his backup and has played well so far this season. Wisconsin’s punt return man and kickoff return specialist is Nick Davis and he is one of the best in the nation at doing both. He has speed to burn and can flat out “fly”. It would be nice to see the Bucks come out inspired for this game. If not and Dayne gets a little head of steam going, it will be like tackling a runner with momentum running down hill. Here’s saying OSU’s defense will be prepared to take on the huge task at hand. PREDICTION: OSU 27-19 |
