OSU 40 - OU 16

"We are very fortunate to come up with a victory." - John Cooper.

Date/Time: Saturday, October 18th at 3:30 P.M.
Television: ABC
Place: Ohio Stadium

We here at the TriviaZone admit we don't know a whole lot about the Ohio Bobcats.. What we do know is that they run the option and some wishbone and they always have good athletes on the offensive side of the ball. There head coach is Jim Grobe (a former assistant at Airforce, who installed the high-scoring offense) and they are from the Mid-American Conference. Not only are they from the tough MAC, but they have been very competitive in that conference, rolling up huge offensive numbers rushing the football behind QB Kareem Wilson and RB Steveland Hookfin, the top two runners in Ohio U history, who have either graduated or used up their eligibility.

The Bobcats will try to keep the ball on the ground to eat up some clock. That will be their top goal and only chance at a huge upset. They will bring in a "we've got nothing to loose" attitude to this game.

Replacing the outstanding duo of Wilson and Hookfin (both helped Ohio rank second in the nation in pushing offense at two 77 yards per game last season) are true freshman QB Dontrell Jackson and redshirt sophomore James Patterson (6-1, 210) and junior Ronald Ray at RB. Center Mike Varone was a first team all MAC selection a year ago.

OLB Leigh Barbour (96 tackles and 10 for loss in 1998), ILB Mark Calgaro (87 tackles) and CB Donnie White (82 tackles, 7 for loss and 3 INT's a year ago) led the Bobcats defense. All four of Ohio's starting DB's are listed at 5'10". It could be a long afternoon for those players, as Reggie Germany, Ken Yon Rambo and Ohio State's QB's should be able to pass at will, just like Northern Iowa (division 1 AA) did last weekend in a 36-21 win over the Bobcats in Athens Ohio.

The only chance Ohio U has is with the running game with the hope of breaking a few long runs and ball control offense to keep the clock running. In every other aspect of the game Ohio U is over matched. If they even try to pass both QB's will be wasting their time. OSU has to make a statement to one of these MAC teams, if they haven't already -- "you don't want to play us."

Prediction: Ohio State 56 -- Ohio University 10.
